Hi there!

I’m Joshua, an independent financial adviser. I specialise in helping individuals aged 42 to 70 navigate the often complex and emotional transition into retirement with clarity, confidence and, ideally, a renewed sense of excitement. These years are about more than just numbers; they are about preparing for a new chapter that reflects who you are and what matters most to you. Whether you are only just beginning to take retirement seriously or already counting down the months, I am here to help you make thoughtful, informed decisions that support both your lifestyle now and your goals for the future.

Financial planning does not have to be overwhelming, confusing or dull. At its best, it is a powerful tool for creating a future you genuinely look forward to, while making the most of the career and life you have built so far. From maximising your retirement savings and understanding workplace schemes to knowing when benefits and pension options become available, and planning for healthcare and income in retirement, I will guide you through each step.

I focus on making complex financial topics feel approachable and practical, without losing sight of the bigger picture. It is not just about spreadsheets and projections; it is about helping you feel informed, in control and confident about what comes next. Together, we will create a plan that reflects your values, your priorities and your vision for the future.

My approach is built on honest conversations, clear strategies and a deep respect for the personal nature of this life stage. I am here to provide clarity when things feel uncertain, structure when they feel overwhelming and encouragement when you need it most. Retirement is not an ending; it is the start of a new chapter. You deserve to enter it with peace of mind, purpose and confidence.

FAQ

What do you like most about being a Financial Advisers?
The best part about the work I do is the people I meet. We never see the same situation twice, and every time we meet a new prospective client, it’s incredible to hear about their life stories, careers, and the challenges they face. If, even for a brief moment, we are able to help them, it leaves me with an incredible feeling of satisfaction knowing we’ve made a difference to their financial future.
Throughout my career, I have always sought to advise people who are self-employed or limited company owners, and who are probably at the most crucial part of their financial journeys between the ages of 40-75 and are starting to capitalise on their hard work by building assets to reduce taxes and help secure their financial future for retirement. Having been self-employed myself in the past, I know the stress that comes with looking after everything yourself and not being able to afford to make mistakes. Being able to reassure clients in this space has helped me massively in understanding clients emotional needs when it comes to dealing with personal, and company finances.
It is tough to focus on just one concept of finance because some things work for some people while other things work for others. Often, when working with clients, I find that many of their misconceptions revolve around how they view debt, such as mortgages and credit cards. I believe there is a healthy balance that can be struck, but it has to be based on logic and planning. Viewing debt as a financial product and stepping back from the emotional burden it carries can give clients incredibly useful insight into how to manage it more effectively and achieve the best possible outcome for their finances.
Working with Humboldt has been incredible for me, both professionally and personally. Being able to set a goal, build the steps to reach it, and actually do the work has been a revelation. It is something that was never taught in school and is quite difficult to develop on your own, and it has been priceless both inside and outside the office. I have met some incredible people along the way and am grateful for every interaction I have been fortunate to have. As we grow larger as a firm, I am even more excited about the new opportunities that lie ahead.
